The Model

What Changes When You Move to WaaS

The WaaS model doesn't just reduce the cost of tyres — it removes the cost structure of tyres entirely and replaces it with a managed service rate.

Conventional Tyre Programme
High upfront CAPEX per tyre$60k–100k+ per large OTR unit, paid at procurement. Volatile — tied to rubber market and global logistics.
Unpredictable replacement scheduleAverage 9-month tyre life — but actual life varies widely by site conditions. Budget exposure is structural.
On-site inventory requiredCapital tied up in tyre stock. Storage footprint. Management overhead. Risk of stock-out.
Emergency change-out costUnplanned tyre failures generate unbudgeted downtime, overtime, and emergency logistics cost.
Disposal obligationEach carcass requires logistics, storage, and disposal management. Ongoing site liability.
Supply dependency on 3 OEMsPrice and availability set by manufacturer production cycles — not your operational requirements.
GACWheels WaaS
Zero upfront CAPEXGACWheels owns and supplies the wheel system. You pay per productive operating hour — no capital outlay.
Fixed per-hour operating rateOne rate covers the wheel system, segment supply, maintenance service, and component management. Fully predictable.
No on-site inventoryGACWheels manages component supply against your fleet schedule. No stock held on-site. No capital tied up.
No unplanned maintenance costASW failure modes are gradual and scheduled. Unplanned cost events driven by tyre blowout are removed.
Zero disposal obligationWorn components returned to GACWheels under the service agreement. No carcass management on-site.
Single supply partnerGACWheels manages the component supply chain. No OTR market exposure. Price stability built into the service agreement.

Getting Started

From Enquiry to First Wheel on Machine

The WaaS onboarding process is structured in four stages. Most operations reach active deployment within 8–12 weeks of initial enquiry.

Fleet Assessment
GACWheels reviews your fleet profile — machine types, payload, duty cycle, operating hours. Compatibility confirmed. Site-specific financial model produced.
Trial Agreement
Trial programme scoped: machine selection, duration, baseline metrics. WaaS trial terms agreed. GACWheels coordinates supply and installation timing with site.
Installation & Commissioning
ASW wheels installed by GACWheels technicians during planned shutdown. Maintenance team trained. Performance monitoring activated. First reporting period begins.
Commercial Deployment
Trial data reviewed. Full fleet WaaS agreement executed. Ongoing service programme activated. GACWheels manages the wheel system from this point — you manage production.
Pricing

WaaS Pricing Is Fleet-Specific.
These Are the Inputs.

The per-hour rate is calculated from your fleet profile — machine class, payload, operating hours, and site conditions. GACWheels does not publish a standard rate because no two fleet profiles are identical. The inputs below determine what you'll pay.

Input Factor
Machine Class
Rate driver
Wheel size & load
Larger machine class = larger ASW system = higher per-hour base rate
  • Standard haul truck (100–200t): lower base rate
  • Ultra-class haul truck (300t+): higher base rate
  • Underground LHD: mid-range rate
  • Support fleet (grader, water cart): lower rate

Hours & conditions
Higher hours = lower effective per-hour rate (scale efficiency)
  • Annual operating hours per machine
  • Payload profile and average haul distance
  • Site surface conditions (road quality, debris)
  • Fleet size — larger fleets attract scale rates

Shared Responsibility Model

What the Operator Provides Under WaaS

WaaS covers the wheel system, component supply, and service programme. The operating site retains responsibility for the operational environment in which the ASW runs. This is the standard allocation of responsibility under the agreement.

This division is standard across managed-service agreements in mining. GACWheels owns and manages the wheel system; the site owns and manages the machine and the operating environment.

  • Trained & certified personnel
Operators and maintenance staff trained to the ASW service standard GACWheels establishes at commissioning.
  • Routine inspections
Visual inspection of tread segments and wheel condition per the agreed inspection schedule — no specialised tools required.
  • Operating data & reporting
Hours logged, payload records, and incident reports provided to GACWheels for performance monitoring and service planning.
  • Logistics coordination
Site access and machine availability for scheduled service windows. GACWheels coordinates timing with the site maintenance programme.
  • Site insurance & regulatory compliance
The operator holds site insurance and maintains compliance with applicable mining regulations. ASW deployment is subject to site-specific engineering approval and regulatory acceptance.
Common Questions

WaaS — Frequently Asked Questions

GACWheels retains ownership of the wheel system throughout the service agreement. The operation pays a per-hour rate for use of the system — there is no transfer of title, no asset on the operation's balance sheet, and no residual obligation at end of contract. This is a key accounting distinction for operations seeking to manage CAPEX exposure or improve balance sheet flexibility.
ASW failure modes are gradual and detectable — there is no catastrophic blowout failure mode. Tread wear and component degradation are progressive and visible. Under the WaaS service agreement, GACWheels monitors component condition against operating hours and coordinates maintenance proactively. If an unplanned service event does occur, it is covered under the WaaS agreement — there is no additional cost to the operation for reactive maintenance within the service scope.
The per-hour rate is derived from a fleet assessment that accounts for machine class, wheel size, payload profile, annual operating hours, site surface conditions, and fleet size. GACWheels builds a site-specific model for each operation before a rate is proposed. There is no standard published rate because the inputs vary significantly — a fleet assessment is required to produce an accurate rate.
GACWheels structures WaaS agreements based on operational fit — there is no universal minimum fleet size. Trials typically begin with a subset of machines to establish baseline data, and commercial agreements are scaled from there. Contract duration is structured around the operational profile of the fleet. Contact GACWheels to discuss the terms appropriate to your operation.
Yes. GACWheels coordinates service timing with your existing planned maintenance windows — the ASW service programme is designed to integrate with site maintenance scheduling, not displace it. The segment replacement and cylinder service activities are less disruptive than conventional tyre change-outs: they are carried out in-situ, without axle removal, and require no specialised tyre-handling equipment. Your maintenance team retains full oversight; GACWheels provides the technical execution.
The WaaS model removes the tyre disposal waste stream from site entirely. Worn tread segments are returned to GACWheels — no carcasses on-site, no disposal logistics, no landfill exposure. For operations with ESG reporting obligations, this eliminates one of the most difficult-to-manage solid waste streams in surface mining. The reduction in unplanned downtime also produces a secondary fuel and emissions benefit from improved vehicle utilisation. GACWheels can provide ESG reporting support data under the service agreement.
